SOLO

Today I observed Amanda introducing SOLO to her class. I haven't had a lot of experience with SOLO and this was a good learning experience for me and also gave me ideas about how I can introduce it into my own classroom.

After looking at how SOLO is and doing my own research I think SOLO is quite similar to Blooms Taxonomy with the different verbs for each level.

The things that I like most about SOLO is the actions that are associated with each level which the children can understand. These actions mean that they are associating a movement with the certain ideas and this is great for students that learn by doing.

I feel that I will use SOLO most for using the different levels to set criteria with the children which they can then go back on and reflect on how well they have done with meeting the criteria and what level they are at.

My next steps are to:
- introduce the idea of SOLO to my class
- start using the criteria in my writing time so that we set the criteria for our writing together
- after finishing a piece of writing getting children to reflect on how they have met the criteria
- eventually incorporate SOLO in other curriculum areas
